World AIDs Day
Second floor -- lungs. Third floor -- heart. Fourth floor -- brain. The doors slide open to allow them in, riding up and down in a confined space to get to a specific location. These people, these innocent human beings, have been transformed into the cells that either help or destroy those who may need it most.
We stand on each floor awaiting the ding of the elevator, letting us know that the vein has let them out. A scene of death, fear, uncertainty, or realizations awaiting them on each floor. As the blood flows through the building, the realizations come to life. There are people with AIDs; there are people who die of AIDs; there are people who don't even know they have AIDs; and yet, there are people who deny that it exists.
At the stroke of 12:15pm, we set up location in the OISE/UT building downtown to capture the attention of and inform passersby, and to remember those who have suffered from and died from the disease. It's weird that we don't tend to think of these things unless somehow affected by it ourselves. Why don't we? The only answer I can come up with is denial. Do we not want to know it exists? Do we not think it could happen to us or someone we know? I'm sure all of those that died of AIDs or know someone who has, thought the same thing...but they were proven wrong.
This is how all diseases seem to be approached in society today. No one recognizes that they exist until someone throws it in your face...or unless it just happens to be thrust at you and encompasses your life. But what can we do? Is there even anything that we can do to stop it? I don't know...and probably not. This is where that idea of fate comes in I guess. Was this meant to happen? Or was this all created for a purpose? And what purpose is that? Life is confusing...obviously...but are we the ones who make it that way???

The **stuff** of procrastination....

Because we live in more of an individualist society than before, unfortunatly people do think their 'invincible'...myself included. These days no one takes notice of something unless it directly affects them and only then does it take any importance. I think its awesome that you were out there today "giving a little sight to the blind" as they would say ;)
