MERRY CHRISTMAS!! ...for some that is...
So last night while at church looking at the people around me; eyes wandering along the walls, looking for any pictures that i can use to occupy the time, for which I had to spend trying to decipher the words recited by the priest in this annual ceremony, I was whispered a piece of news from a fellow twice-a-year-church-goer..... "they're thinking of reuniting the churches and changing Christmas to the 25th of December". Ok....but how do you do this? Hey everyone so from now on you are to all celebrate Christmas on December 25th. For those of you who have been celebrating it on the 7th, well, change that... Hmmm yeah, that doesn't seem like it would work.
All of this brings up even more questions in my mind. How stable and solid are we to see this concept of religion and religious beliefs if after a meeting between some holy figures, a holiday like Christmas can be changed from one day to another??? Well what's next, how about Easter....anyone else want to start changing holidays?
Now if I have to begin celebrating Christmas on December 25th that means that i then have to go shopping with all those other "cheerful" Christmas shoppers in November and December....no more post Christmas boxing week shopping for my Christmas presents???? Crap. Well, hopefully this cheaper-shopping-extra-holiday will be seen as significant and tradition and will not be changed......then what'll i be doing every january 7th??? haha writing in this blog about the adventures of holiday shopping i suppose!!
